The 5-Needle Protocol (5NP) is a simple, non-verbal wellness practice that uses five tiny, sterile  acupuncture needles placed in specific points on each ear. This standardized protocol has been used  worldwide for more than 50 years in hospitals, behavioral health settings, veterans' programs, disaster  relief efforts, schools, correctional facilities, recovery programs, and community wellness initiatives.

Unlike traditional acupuncture, there is no need to explain your symptoms or receive a customized  treatment plan. Everyone receives the same five points, each selected to help support the body's natural  ability to regulate stress, restore balance, and promote overall well-being.

The treatment is gentle, relaxing, and designed to complement- not replace- medical care, mental health  treatment, or other wellness practices.

Modern life asks a lot of our nervous systems. Many of us spend our days rushing from one  responsibility to the next while carrying invisible stress, emotional exhaustion, decision fatigue, and  constant stimulation.

Over time, our bodies can become stuck in "survival mode."

How does it work?

The tiny needles stimulate five carefully selected points on the ear that have traditionally been  associated with calming the nervous system and supporting emotional and physical balance. These points work together to encourage the body's natural healing and self-regulating processes. Each point has a unique purpose:

Sympathetic Point

Supports relaxation and helps calm the body's stress response.

Shen Men

Encourages emotional balance, inner peace, and mental calm.

Kidney Point

Traditionally associated with resilience, courage, and restoring depleted energy  reserves.

Liver Point

Supports emotional flexibility and helps ease feelings of tension or being emotionally  "stuck."

Lung Point

Traditionally associated with processing change, grief, acceptance, and letting go.

Who Can Benefit?

One of the most remarkable things about the 5-Needle Protocol is its versatility. People from all walks of life have incorporated it into their wellness routines. It may be a helpful addition for:

Busy Professionals: Reduce stress and improve focus during demanding work schedules.

Parents & Caregivers: Support emotional resilience while caring for others.

Healthcare Workers & First Responders: Create space for recovery from the emotional  demands of helping professions.

Teachers & School Staff: Encourage relaxation during busy academic seasons.

College & Graduate Students: Support focus and emotional balance during periods of high stress.

Veterans: Promote calm and nervous system regulation.

Individuals in Recovery: The protocol was originally developed to support addiction recovery and  continues to be widely used as a complementary recovery tool.

Athletes & Performers: Encourage recovery, mental clarity, and focus.

Anyone Looking to Prioritize Their Wellness You don't need to be in crisis to benefit. Many people simply use the protocol as part of a healthy self-care routine.
